The global energy demand is on the rise, causing more carbon emissions and threatening our environment. The increasing demand for oil in relation to oil production is causing volatile prices on the energy markets.
The energy supply in many countries suffers from a poor infrastructure which frequently causes cost-intensive downtimes in industry. Two thirds of the industrial end energy demand consist of thermal energy - only one third is electric energy. And this thermal energy demand is mainly met by fossil fuels like oil, gas and coal.
The linear concentrating Fresnel collector by Industrial Solar is designed for this application and provides a technology for the solar generation of process heat in the temperature range from 150 °C to 400 °C. With a thermal peak power from 100 kW to 10 MW it closes the gap between solar thermal collectors for domestic hot water heating and large solar thermal power plants.
According to a potential study by IEA Task 33/4, the estimated potential for solar process heat in Europe is 100 GW.
