Strong cooperation with partners in target markets and sectors are a core element of the sales strategy of Industrial Solar. Recently, the company has signed new agreements which strengthen its position in the market.
The core markets of Industrial Solar, a turnkey provider for solar thermal energy systems, are the Middle East, North Africa, Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia. In these locations, the direct solar irradiation is optimal for concentrating as well as for non-concentrating solar technologies to provide process heating. As maximum solar radiation usually occurs when cooling is needed most, process heat can also be used to operate absorption chillers which can shave peak cooling loads. This is an important additional benefit for industrial customers in those regions.
The sectors that have a huge thermal energy demand and are therefore the most promising customers of Industrial Solar are Chemicals & Refining, Pulp & Paper as well as Food & Beverage. In order to accelerate the project development with potential clients, the company reinforces its presence through strategic partnerships, enhancing its presence in the target regions.
During the last weeks, several further cooperation agreements have been signed, for example with:
The selection of cooperation partners goes beyond pure sales activities and specifically considers the ability of participation in project implementation which increases the competitiveness of the company’s solutions and reinforces its capability to create local value.
Further cooperation agreements are under negotiation and first results are already expected within this year.

Industrial Solar launches a new version of its LF-11 Fresnel collector that reduces both costs and weight of the substructure by up to 50%. The new feature uses integrated lightweight platform walkways along the collector structure, permitting integration onto uneven roofs.
When it comes to the implementation of a solar energy system in industry, the area available is often the main constraint. Industrial Solar was one of the first companies to install concentrating solar process heat systems onto rooftops. This allows customers to preserve the constrained ground space for potential upcoming expansions.
For inclined roofs, high efforts for substructure and grating were necessary in the past. With the new feature, Industrial Solar further simplified the building-integration of its Fresnel solar concentrators: Industrial Solar developed a design that integrates lightweight and cost-efficient walkways and gratings directly into the structure of the LF-11 Fresnel collector. The number of interfaces to the customer’s roof is thereby further reduced, while weight and cost can be minimized. The walkways consist of stiff and lightweight sheet metal platforms with an anti-slip surface. Different configurations are available, depending on specific site conditions and solar field sizes. Handrails, skirting and further add-ons can be integrated as well. Typically, both cost and weight of the required substructure can thus be reduced by up to 50%.
With this new development Industrial Solar further reduces cost and eases the integration of its concentrating solar collectors on industrial rooftops, which enables the company to tap the huge market potential of carbon-neutral heat for industry.

The engineers of Industrial Solar are constantly working on their Fresnel collector design to increase efficiency and to bring down cost. A raytracing study by Fraunhofer ISE proved that they were successful as the optical efficiency reached the 70% mark.
The LF-11 Fresnel collector from Industrial Solar was one of the first concentrating solar collectors to be designed for process heat generation and suitable to be installed on rooftops. Since 2008, Industrial Solar has successfully implemented LF-11 systems in seven different countries and various industrial sectors to provide solar process heat, cooling and direct steam generation.
The LF-11 Fresnel collector is the flagship of the company’s technology portfolio and can generate temperatures up to 400 °C in a power range up to 30 MW, which meets the thermal energy demand of many industries.
The latest version of Industrial Solar’s LF-11 Fresnel collector was upgraded regarding the width of the individual mirror rows as well as the maximum string length. Accordingly, the optical efficiency for perpendicular incidence eta0 increased by 5,1% from 63,5% to 68,6% in comparison to the previous collector version.
The maximum optical efficiency - which is reached at a transversal incidence angle of 5° - has now cracked the 70% limit with a value of 70,9%. These values were confirmed in a raytracing study performed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems in Freiburg.
The collector technology has been constantly improved and refined over the years, but these latest design changes are considered a major milestone. The improvements were made without increasing the collector footprint, which means that the customers will obtain a higher yield for the same ground use at an even lower price.
Additionally, the standard vacuum receiver from the CSP sector, which is a core component of the collector, has been improved in the last years, having now a shorter glass-metal-seal and better optical and thermal properties. Another improvement of the collector installation is the increased string length that was optimized for 24 modules using only a single drive in each mirror row, which reduces costs and installation time.
Innovation is central to Industrial Solar, which can be seen in the company’s engagement in various R&D projects on both European and national levels.
